All Roads Lead to Terrapin

I’ve been drinking Terrapin Rye Ale since it was first released in 2002 and sold only in Athens, GA. Now available outside of the college town, it’s one of my two go-to beers when in the Peach state. The copious amounts of rye bring a head on explosion to your taste buds coupled with the five hop varieties (Magnum, Fuggle, East Kent Golding, Amarillo used in the dry hopping) along with the five malts (2-Row Pale, Munich, Malted Rye, Victory Malt, Honey Malt).

Even with the 5 varieties of hops, Terrapin Rye Ale clocks in at 35 IBUs, again making the rye flavors predominate and so damn enjoyable. With a 5.5% ABV, this one is weill suited for knocking back a few and not worrying too much about knocking yourself over. Perfect for a hot day in the park or with some spicy food.
